Design review is one of those issues that comes up a lot in a place like Santa Monica, where people have high expectations of what their city should look like, and a high appreciation for their own standards. In Santa Monica for many years we have had an Architectural Review Board. I’ve written numerous columns about design review, including a series of four columns in 2002. Here are some of them:
“World Class City of the Self-Deluded” (Aug. 26, 2002) — http://www.surfsantamonica.com/ssm_site/the_lookout/columns/FrankGruber/FG-2002/8_2002/08_26_2002_World_Class_City_of_the_Self_Deluded.htm
“More Architecture, More French” (Sept. 3, 2002) — http://www.surfsantamonica.com/ssm_site/the_lookout/columns/FrankGruber/FG-2002/9_2002/09_03_2002_More_Architecture_More_French.htm
“Last of a Series” (Oct. 7, 2002) —
